Nearly a complete year as passed since I took a new professional assignment and this has completely taken my time and head to develop Caravelle. During this holidays, I made a good progress on it, but not enough to bring it to a version that I can release.
As things are at work, I'm afraid I won't be able to progress much in Caravelle in the near time. However, the project is not forgotten, and will definitely release a new version as soon as possible. That may be only next year. Be patient.
Don't despair a new and improved version is on its way. Despite the heavy workload at my daytime job, am still slowly working on Caravelle. I've opted for a complete revision of the code this time, and it is taking long. On the positive side, some of the features that were promised for later versions are already going to be implemented, and other's are still on hold.
Unfortunately, for some of you, one of the improvements forces me to upgrade to a later version of Cocoa, and consequently, the Caravelle will not be supported in versions previous to 10.11. That means, Lion, Mountain Lion and Yosemite will no longer be supported. I know that this will be a disappointment to some of you, given the controversy on the upgrades to El Capitan.
The parts that are being postponed for the time being are the directory comparison. Sorry guys, but I hope to compensate you for a much better App.
I'm taking really much more time than expected to issue the next version of Caravelle. Firstly a big refactoring was needed to implement the new features, then an increase of workload at my daytime job forces me to hold it. And of course, I still love to go out, make some sport and spend time with my three children.
I haven't forgot about it and will be back to work when possible.
Despite the workload of my professional and family life, I'm being able to make progresses in Caravelle.
I'm striving to make the 1.4 release at spring time. I hope the integration of the left side pane will help to make the application more user friendly, and solve the navigation issues that was reported.
I'm really sorry for the issues that the Yosemite users are having with the window layouts. It was really unexpected for me, as I was confident that making it work on El Capitan would inherently make it sober on the older platforms. Apparently not the case, and at this point will be difficult for me to test in all previous platforms. I simply have no means to do it.
Regarding the Duplicate File Finder. So far, it has not the traction that I thought it would have. I would love to get some feedback on it.
I thank all the persons that took the time to send their feedback and suggestions.
Due to professional obligations, I am being forced to put Caravelle on hold. The good news is that the Duplicate Finder, is almost done, and hope to have the next version release still in November. December for sure.
After a long iteration with technical issues related with the App Store, I am proud to present to you the Version 1.3.1.
This new version finally, brings some more features that can make Caravelle a bit more useful once compared to Finder. For example, I hope you will find the Folders First option useful. Please make sure you visit the Preferences Menu for the new things there.
Contrary to what was initially foreseen, the Duplicate File Finder option was left out of the bundle. Reason for this is related both with the parsing of the digital receipt needed to enable the App-In purchase, and also, because the interface needed a few refinements.
I hope to find the time needed to finish this, but lately my daytime job is not giving me enough room for it. Hope that October will give me more time to work in Caravelle.
Kudos to you all,
Current Development (v1.3)
